FAQResidential
There are several bpost barcodes in circulation for parcels. Here are the most common ones. 24 digits starting with 3299 or 3232 (e.g. 329998745632147852365873) 18 digits starting with 3232 (e.g. 323256984521032569) 13 characters starting with two letters (CE, EE, CD, CZ) and ending with two letters (e.g. EE123456789BE) 27 characters starting with JJBEA (e.g. JJBEA2356412012365478896541) The following barcodes are used for registered mail: 30 digits for national registered mail, starting with 010 (e.g. 010541288500452621221234567890) 13 characters for international registered mail, starting with R (e.g. RA123456789FR) You’ll find the barcode in the following places: shipping label receipt mailing receipt notice of absence (see image) confirmation email communication from the sender Afwezigheidsbericht
We automatically treat international mail as priority mail. But the final delivery period depends on the postal service in the destination country. bpost has no influence over this. To be sure that your letter or card is treated as priority mail abroad, attach an 'A PRIOR' stick-on label. You can get those labels for free in a Post Office.
Can I follow my letter with Track & Trace?
FAQResidential
Currently you cannot follow your letters and cards online with Track & Trace. That is because thy don't have a unique reference number or barcode. You cannot follow priority and non-priority mail sent to destinations inside or outside Belgium. If your mail does have a barcode, for example a parcel or registered Mail, then you can follow it online with Track & Trace.
How soon will my personalised postcard be delivered?
FAQResidential
This depends on the sending options you've chosen for your Mobile Postcard. In any case, your postcard will be printed and sent the same day if you make your order in the app by 3 p.m. If you send your postcard as 'Priority' mail, it will reach its destination address in Belgium the next workday. If you send your postcard as 'Non-priority mail', it will be delivered within three workdays. For destinations outside Belgium, we treat your postcard as 'Priority' mail while it's in Belgium. But after that, your postcard is in the hands of the postal service of the destination country.
Can I send money?
FAQResidential
You cannot send money as a parcel; you must send it as registered mail with a declared value. The same applies to valuable objects, jewellery and bearer bonds. You can also send registered mail with a declared value abroad, but only if the destination country offers that service.
If you want to give the mail carrier old electronic devices (e.g. headphones, tablet or laptop), keep the following guidelines in mind: The mail carrier must ring your bell first and deliver a parcel to your address You are allowed to give the mail carrier max. 2 parcels per visit Make sure there are no batteries in your devices Use a sturdy box or bag, seal it completely and stick a Recupel shipping label on it. Your parcel can weigh max. 30 kg Your parcel may not exceed 50 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm Keep in mind that the parcel can be refused if it does not meet the requirements. It can also be refused if the parcel cannot be carried safely due to loose cables, for example. The mail carrier will not accept large electrical appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, etc. You can always take these to a recycling centre.
How do I know if my postcard was sent?
FAQResidential
When your personalised postcard is sent, you will receive a confirmation email. You'll be able to find updates by looking under Follow-up > Sent. Please note: the confirmation e-mail will be sent to the address that you used to log into the app. You didn't receive an e-mail? Look under Menu > My account to see which e-mail address you used to log in. Tip for sending your Mobile Postcard: enter a return address under Menu > My account > Return address.
The original sender of your parcel determines whether you must be able to present a proof of shipment to get the money from your purchase back. The barcode on the label is scanned in the Post Office or Post Point to send the parcel, or the postman taking your parcel scans the label for shipment. The original sender sees when the parcel is scanned in our Track & Trace tool. You can always take a screenshot of the Track & Trace tool or the My bpost app and e-mail it as proof. If you purchase a shipping label in a Post Office or Post Point, then you can request a Shipping Receipt and mail a copy to the original sender. You can request a confirmation of receipt via text message or e-mail either online or in your Post Office or Post Point with the 'confirmation of receipt' option. As soon as your return shipment is delivered or picked up at a Pick-up point, you will receive an e-mail or text message. If none of this is sufficient for the sender as proof, please contact our customer service.
