Accessibility statement
Bpost is committed to ensure digital accessibility of its website and mobile applications, in accordance with the EU Web Accessibility Directive regarding the accessibility of websites and mobile applications for applications of institutions compensated by the Belgian government.
This statement applies to the iOS and Android versions of the mobile application “My bpost”.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
At the moment of writing, our application is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
This statement has been updated on August 1st 2024 and is based on an external accessibility audit carried out by Eleven Ways on August 1st 2024. This audit consisted of an in-depth analysis by an IAAP certified accessibility expert.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of our application, accessibility issues have been observed on several screens. Those include :
Android version
- Missing or inaccurate text alternatives on images
- Limited keyboard support
- Missing headings
- Not supporting the landscape orientation
- Form elements not grouped with their visible label
- Insufficient colour contrast on text and controls
- Missing attributes and roles on some controls, limiting Talkback support
- Error messages not announced by Talkback
- Missing labels on buttons and input fields
- Form elements not providing sufficient instructions and error suggestions
- Document “General terms and conditions” not accessible with Talkback
- Mandatory fields not announced as such on some forms
iOS version
In addition to the issues described for the Android version, the issues found in the iOS version include :
- Not supporting text resize
- Informational content ignored by VoiceOver
- Inadequate focus order on some screens
- Loading spinner not announced by VoiceOver
- Focused elements obscured by floating UI elements
- Insufficient target size on the map’s controls
There is no alternative provided yet for those limitations. Remediating those issues is our priority.
