How can I follow my Registered Mail online?
Surf to Track & Trace. Enter the letters and numbers of the barcode in the search bar. You can find this barcode on your Mailing Receipt or your sales receipt.

When delivering registered mail and parcels, our postmen are required to ring the doorbell and wait a minimal time. Unfortunately, you might find a failed delivery notice in your letterbox even though you were home. You can file a complaint about this. Keep your failed delivery notice handy because you will need it to compete the form.
What if the addressee does not pick up my registered mail with confirmation of receipt?
If the addressee is not home, a failed delivery notice is left behind by the postman. The addressee has 15 calendar days to pick up your registered mail with confirmation of receipt (in the Post Office or Post Point mentioned on the failed delivery notice). If the addressee does not pick up your mail within 15 calendar days, it will be sent back to you. Make sure that your name and address are clearly written on your shipment.
Who should I contact if my international registered mail is not delivered?
It is best to contact our customer service via the online form at the bottom of this page and keep your mailing receipt ready. We start an investigation in collaboration with the foreign post operator that handled your shipment.
How will I know when my registered mail with customised insurance is received?
You can follow your registered mail with customised insurance with Track & Trace, just like the time of delivery. If you want written proof that the addressee received your shipment, add the "confirmation of receipt" option.
How do I know whether the addressee received my international registered mail?
Before your international registered mail leaves Belgium, you can follow it via Track & Trace or the My bpost app. After it leaves Belgium, you can follow your shipment via the tracking tool of the foreign post operator. If you want written proof that the addressee received your shipment, add the confirmation of receipt option.

What happens to my registered mail if the addressee is not home?
If the addressee is not home, a failed delivery notice is left in the letterbox. The addressee can use this to pick up the item in the Post Office or Post Point mentioned on the failed delivery notice; the item must be collected within 15 calendar days. If the addressee does not pick up your mail within 15 calendar days, it will be sent back to you. Make sure that your name and address are clearly written on the item.
How will I know for sure that the addressee received my registered mail?
You can use Track & Trace to see when your registered mail was received. If you want extra certainty and formal, written proof that the addressee received your registered mail, add the confirmation of receipt option.
Why was my registered mail sent back to me?
The reason for the return is written on your returned registered mail. Registered mail is returned in the following cases: • if the address is incomplete or incorrect • if the addressee does not receive mail at the specified address • if the addressee declined to accept the registered letter • if the addressee did not pick up the registered mail within 15 days, after receiving a notice of absence.
Who can accept registered mail?
Only the addressee(s) or those with a postal mandate from the addressee(s) can accept registered mail. The item is only delivered after signing for receipt and checking the ID card of the addressee(s) or postal proxy. The sender determines who the item must be handed over to.

Unfortunately, you might find a failed delivery notice in your letterbox even though you were home. Have you checked whether your doorbell is working properly? If your doorbell is in perfect working order then your postman did not do his/her job properly. We offer our sincere apologies for this. Let us know what happened.
Are Track & Trace notifications legally valid proof?
Track & Trace notifications are only informative and have no legal value. Only the mailing receipt ensures that you are legally covered.
What happens to my registered mail if the addressee has moved?
If the addressee has an active contract with the Forwarding Department at bpost, we will forward your item to his/her new address. If the addressee does not have a contract, your item will be returned to you with registered mail. Make sure that your name and address are clearly written on the item.
Can I receive an email that confirms my registered mail?
When you hand in your registered mail at a Post Office or Post Point, you receive a stamped mailing receipt. This is a legally valid document that can be used in the event of a dispute. You will not (at the moment) receive an email confirming the receipt of your registered mail. You can follow your registered mail online with Track & Trace.
When will my international registered mail be delivered?
  We process your international registered mail as a priority shipment. After that it depends on the delivery period of the foreign post operator that handles your shipment. Once the shipment leaves Belgium, the delivery period differs from country to country.
Can't the postman keep the registered mail until I am home?
No, if you are not home, the postman will leave a failed delivery notice that indicates where and when you (or your proxy) can pick up your registered mail.
