The My bpost app will not be able to connect to the bbox locker if: Your smartphone does not have access to your location and/or Bluetooth on your smartphone is not enabled. You are not standing in front of the correct bbox. Always check the exact address and number of the bbox in the e-mail you have received from us (sometimes there are 2 bbox lockers in the same street). Your parcel has been returned to the sender. This happens when you do not pick up your parcel after 5 working days. You can always find the latest pick-up date in the e-mail you have received from us (or in the My bpost app).
When a parcel from outside the European Union arrives in Belgium, it is handed over to the bpost customs clearance service, which prepares it for customs clearance. The process is as follows: , 1. Clearance of the parcel , If VAT on your parcel has been paid in advance via the webshop, it will be immediately handed over to customs. If not, it will be cleared through customs first. This includes the calculation of customs duties, VAT and any other fees (like anti-dumping duties and environmental duties). As the recipient, you must pay these import costs in advance via the My bpost app or via Track & Trace. You will receive an email, text message or letter with a payment invitation. , 2. Security check , Customs performs a security check on all goods arriving in Belgium from outside the European Union. Customs checks whether the goods can be imported to Belgium. If not (e.g. counterfeit goods, weapons or medicine), customs blocks your parcel. If your shipment is subject to inspection, please allow for an additional 3 to 7 days. , 3. By means of a failed delivery notification if we cannot reach you digitally. In this case your parcel will not be available immediately. The costs to import goods from outside the EU consist of 3 parts: , VAT , For all goods coming from outside the EU, a percentage of VAT on the value of the goods must be paid. This percentage varies between 6% (books) and 21% (electronic products). Please note that the VAT due for importing goods is calculated not only on the price you paid to the seller but also on certain additional costs such as shipping costs and the administrative fee charged by bpost for completing customs formalities. ,   ,   , Custom duties , For certain categories of goods you have to pay customs duties. These are also represented by a percentage. For some goods (e.g. jeans), you pay up to 12% duty. For other goods you do not pay duty (e.g. books).   , Customs formalities or administrative fees , The bpost customs clearance service charges administrative fees for the costs incurred during the import procedure if: the VAT was not paid in advance in a registered online shop (Import One-Stop Shop or IOSS) the value of the goods is more than €150 These costs include: the calculation of import taxes transferring the taxes to the government requesting additional missing information (e.g. licenses or invoices) storage costs From 1st January 2025, bpost will charge the following fees for customs formalities: 0 euro for private shipments with a value of up to €45. In this case, the sender has to prove that the shipment is a gift. TIP! Are you shopping in a non-EU webshop and want to avoid extra costs? If your shopping basket states that VAT is included, then you’re safe! You won’t have to pay any costs later.
If your parcel was not delivered, check the status of your shipment via Track & Trace or the My bpost app first. If the status of your parcel has not changed for a while (at least 5 workdays for shipments to a neighbouring country, at least 10 workdays for the United Kingdom and all other countries), ask the sender to contact our customer service. Only the sender of your parcel can submit a complaint. Why do I have to contact the sender? Only the sender of your parcel can submit a complaint about a parcel that is not delivered. The sender will look for a solution together with bpost. If you are the sender, please contact our customer service  via the online form . This way you can immediately provide all the necessary information and documents to process your file.
We recommend that you contact the sender if: The status of your your parcel remains unchanged for several workdays (at least 5 workdays for shipments to a neighbouring country, at least 10 workdays for the United Kingdom and all other countries). Track & Trace mentions the status ‘delivered’ but you cannot find the parcel anywhere. The sender can work with you to see what the best solution is for your order. Most senders have permanent agreements with bpost regarding lost parcels. Only the sender can submit a complaint regarding a lost parcel because the sender pays bpost for the shipment. If you are the sender, please contact our customer service. It is best to do this via the online form at the bottom of this page. This way, you can immediately provide us with all the necessary information to start an investigation.
