Why was I not notified of my incoming registered mail?

Incoming registered mail is scanned to check that the name on the envelope is the same as the name in your account. You will receive notification of incoming registered mail in the following situations: If you have a My bpost app account If you have a MyPreferences account If you have been to a Post Office or Post Point to request delivery of registered mail straight to your letterbox We won’t be able to send a notification if the name on the envelope is not exactly the same as the name in your account. To avoid this, add all possible versions of your name in your account (for example Alexandre Jansen, Alex Jansen, and A. Jansen). You may also want to check that you haven’t turned off registered mail notifications. It’s easy to turn these notifications back on in the My bpost app.
You can affix a proof of receipt when you want formal written proof that the addressee has taken receipt of your mail item. The addressee must give their name and sign and date a document at the time of delivery. You will receive this proof for your peace of mind. In the event of a dispute a proof of receipt is deemed legally valid. You can affix a proof of receipt to these mail items: Official, confidential, original documents Notices to cancel a lease, insurance, an energy contract and so on Documents related to insurance and phone contracts and so on Official correspondence with your employer Documents related to a dispute, your health or documents of value to you In some cases proof of receipt is required by law. My parcel was ordered from a European webshop. Why does it have to pass through customs or do I have to pay extra fees?

In this case, your parcel comes from outside the EU, even if it was ordered from a European webshop. Some webshops send their products directly from the country of origin. If that country is outside the EU (e.g. the United Kingdom), you might be charged import costs. Always check the sender address of your parcel when ordering items online. If you receive a payment request for import costs, you can still refuse your parcel before making the payment. You can do this via the My bpost app or via Track & Trace. In that case, your parcel will automatically be returned to sender.
Most senders have permanent agreements with bpost regarding lost and damaged parcels. Only you, the sender, can ask to open a dossier for a lost or damaged parcel because you paid bpost for the shipment. Contact us via the online form at the bottom of this page. This way you can immediately provide us with all the necessary information and documents to process your dossier. In case of damage, your complaint must be submitted to bpost within 7 calendar days. In case of loss abroad, we will start an investigation if your parcel does not receive a status change after: at least 5 workdays for shipments to a neighbouring country at least 10 workdays for the United Kingdom and all other countries

You can deactivate Mail Ahead in the 'More' menu, in ‘Mail Ahead’ tab. If the switch button is red, Mail Ahead is activated. To deactivate this feature, simply turn off the button. When the button is grey, Mail Ahead is deactivated.
