Accessibility statement
Bpost is committed to ensure digital accessibility of its website and mobile applications, in accordance with the EU Web Accessibility Directive regarding the accessibility of websites and mobile applications for applications of institutions compensated by the Belgian government.
This statement applies to the website https://www.bpost.be/ and doesn’t include its subdomains.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
At the moment of writing, our application is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
This statement has been updated on October 18th 2024 and is based on an external accessibility audit carried out by Eleven Ways on October 18th 2024. This audit consisted of an in-depth analysis by an IAAP certified accessibility expert.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of our website, accessibility issues have been observed on several pages. Those include :
1. Navigation
- Some pages have an incorrect headings’ structure
- Some pages have redundant or non-descriptive page titles
- Some links don’t provide a link text that describes their purpose
- Some HTML landmarks are not named, or are used inappropriately
- The footer navigation is not consistent across all pages
- Some tables don’t have header cells
2. Keyboard
- Some interactive elements don’t have a visible focus indicator
- The keyboard focus sometimes travels inside hidden elements
- The keyboard focus is sometimes trapped in dropdown menus
- Some invisible elements receive the keyboard focus
3. Design
- The text contrast is not sufficient on several text elements
- Some links are not sufficiently distinguishable from normal text
4. Names and labels
- Some images are missing a text alternative or provide a non-descriptive text alternative
- Some buttons have inadequate labels
- Some form elements are not associated with their visible label
5. Robustness
- Increasing the text spacing may lead to layout breaks
- ARIA attributes are not used appropriately on some custom widgets
- Some feedback messages are not presented to the user by screen readers
There is no alternative provided yet for those limitations. Remediating those issues is our priority.
Please contact us if you find an issue not listed above.
Improvement plan
Remediation of the accessibility issues reported above has started and will be the object of our continuous efforts until compliance is met.
