, Tip
, : You can also let the My bpost app know where you would like your parcels delivered if you are not at home.
If you purchase something within Europe, you do not have to pay any import costs on it. However, for some regions within the EU that are not part of the EU customs territory (e.g. the Canary Islands) you will have to pay import costs. Areas in Europe that are an exception Discover the areas in Europe that are an exception . Also keep in mind that some online shop ship their products directly from the country of origin. An online shop address that ends with an EU country code, such as .be, .nl or .fr, does not necessarily ship its goods from the EU. If the shipping address is outside the EU (e.g. the United Kingdom), you will have to pay import costs. Always check the sender address of your parcel when ordering items online.
Who can accept my shipment?
FAQResidential
Who is allowed to accept your shipment depends on the type of shipment.
, My shipment is a parcel
, Anyone at home at your address can accept your parcel, including household help or your partner, even if it is a parcel requiring a signature upon receipt. If we deliver to your (chosen) neighbour, anyone present at that address can also accept the parcel.
, My shipment is registered mail

Why are there customs checks on my parcel?
FAQResidential
All shipments from outside the EU go through an import procedure. This allows Belgian customs to check the contents of shipments on arrival in Belgium. Most shipments are released immediately, but inspections are also carried out: to check if the contents are prohibited from being sent to the EU (e.g. medication) if the import of the contents requires an agreement from other government agencies (e.g. food or plants) if documentation or permits are required for the importation of the contents to combat counterfeit goods If your shipment is subject to inspection, please allow for an additional 3 to 7 days.
How do I know if I can trace my international shipment?
FAQResidential
If the barcode of your international shipment does not start with the letter "U", then you can easily trace it and thus track it online. A barcode with the letter “U” is only used to enable the import procedure and to present the shipment to Belgian customs. After release, it will be handed over to bpost without further tracking. The barcode can be found in our communications (My bpost app, e-mail or sms), on the receipt from the Post Office and on the note the postman left in your letterbox. To track your shipment, make sure to enter the complete barcode on Track & Trace or in the My bpost app.
Your My bpost app account must be linked to at least one email address. If you want to use a different email address, you can: Create a new account for the My bpost app. You do this by signing out of your current account via the 'More' menu and then selecting 'Sign out'. Then you can create a new account in the app using your new email address. If you no longer use your old email address, you can also simply add your new address to your current account. Select the 'More' menu, choose 'My email addresses' then enter the email address you wish to add. Parcels and shipments ordered with this email address will automatically be added to the My bpost app from now on. The email addresses you have added can easily be changed or deleted.

Why wasn't my parcel delivered to a neighbour?
FAQResidential
There can be several reasons why your parcel was not delivered to a neighbour: The postman could not deliver your parcel to a neighbour because he was not at home or did not accept it. Your parcel is a shipment with payment upon delivery. Your parcel is a secure delivery, so you need to show your secure delivery code. Your parcel is a registered mail. Your chosen neighbour (under My Delivery Preferences) lives more than 50 m walking distance from your home. The parcel was ordered with an email address that (still) is not linked to your delivery preferences. That's why we were not able to apply your delivery preference. Take into account that the validation of a new account or new address via MyPreferences takes 10 days. If you do not think that the above mentioned reasons are the cause, you can report this via the online form .
