What do I need to make my shipping label?

You need the following details to create a shipping label: Your address, in case your parcel is returned. Address of the addressee or Pick-up Point or Parcel Locker of your choice. If you create your shipping label online , you can easily choose the Pick-up Point or Parcel Locker from a list. Email address of the addressee (required if you send to a Parcel Locker). That way, we can take their delivery preferences into account (if within Belgium). The dimensions and weight of your parcel. The desired options, for example whether you want to receive a confirmation text message. A printer. You do not need special printer paper to print your shipping label. If you don't have a printer, choose the 'Print my shipping label' option and have it printed for a fee in a Post Office or Post Point. Tip: tape the label on the top of the package with strong tape.
If your parcel gets lost or is damaged, then the compensation depends on the chosen option: Light parcels (up to 2 kg) without option 'declared value': no compensation Light parcels (up to 2 kg) with option 'declared value': you are compensated in accordance with the amount of the declared value. Parcels up to 30 kg: you receive compensation for the actual damage. That compensation is maximum 40 SDR per parcel. SDR stands for special drawing rights, a unit for international exchanges. 1 SDR = 1.2454 eur. Added to that amount are postage fees and 4.5 SDR per kg. How do I know when I can collect my parcel?

You can always check online (via e-mail, Track & Trace or the My bpost app ) when your parcel will be available.

, In this case, you will always receive a confirmation e-mail, text message or notification in the My bpost app when your parcel is available.
, My parcel was not delivered to my home and has been taken to a Pick-up point or Parcel Locker
, If your parcel cannot be delivered to your home or left with a neighbour or in a safe place, you will be able to pick it up next working day from a pick-up point or a parcel locker. We will send you an email or push a notification to your app to tell you when you can pick up your parcel. If we cannot reach you digitally, we will pop a failed delivery notice through your letterbox stating where and when you can pick up your parcel. Please note that the Pick-up point can still change. As soon as your parcel is at a Pick-up point, the status of your parcel will be updated on Track & Trace or you will be notified in the My bpost app . You will also always receive an e-mail when your parcel is ready for pick-up at a Pick-up point. Therefore, always check the status of your parcel online before you go to the Pick-up point.
How are import costs calculated?

, For certain categories of goods you have to pay customs duties. These are also represented by a percentage. For some goods (e.g. jeans), you pay up to 12% duty. For other goods you do not pay duty (e.g. books).

, The bpost customs clearance service charges administrative fees for the costs incurred during the import procedure if: the VAT was not paid in advance in a registered online shop (Import One-Stop Shop or IOSS) the value of the goods is more than €150 These costs include: the calculation of import taxes transferring the taxes to the government requesting additional missing information (e.g. licenses or invoices) storage costs From 1st January 2025, bpost will charge the following fees for customs formalities: 0 euro for private shipments with a value of up to €45. In this case, the sender has to prove that the shipment is a gift. Since the establishment of bpost, your privacy is one of our core values. The clearest example of this is our strict compliance with the confidentiality of mail in accordance with the Belgian constitution and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
You can designate someone else to take receipt of your registered mail on your behalf. In such a case you give them a proxy. You can do that in various ways. Give a proxy in the My bpost app You will receive a notification in the app or by email about new incoming registered mail, provided you haven’t turned off notifications. So if you won’t be home, you’ll still have time to set up a proxy. Open the app and tap first ‘More’, then ‘delivery preferences’. Tap ‘registered mail’ and choose your preferred proxy: ‘Last minute’ or ‘Classic’. Identify yourself (with itsme® or with your ID card) and follow the steps. You will receive a QR code, which you can pass on to the person of your choosing. This person simply shows this QR code during delivery. If you set up a traditional proxy, they will also have to present their ID card. Set up a proxy on your failed delivery notice If you are not at home and you have not set any delivery preferences, we will leave a failed delivery notice. You can set up a proxy using this notification: Simply add the requested details on the rear and sign. Give this to the person you choose, along with a copy of the front and back of your ID card. To take receipt of the registered mail from the postwoman or man or at the Post Office counter this person presents: Their own ID card; The failed delivery notice as completed and signed by you; The copy of your ID card.
