You can send the following items in Belgium with registered mail with customised insurance: coins gold or silver objects jewellery or other valuable materials securities or bearer bonds Some countries, such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, do not accept this service. Ask a Post Office clerk or our Customer Care Centre whether this service is accepted in the destination country.
If the barcode of your international shipment does not start with the letter "U", then you can easily trace it and thus track it online. A barcode with the letter “U” is only used to enable the import procedure and to present the shipment to Belgian customs. After release, it will be handed over to bpost without further tracking. The barcode can be found in our communications (My bpost app, e-mail or sms), on the receipt from the Post Office and on the note the postman left in your letterbox. To track your shipment, make sure to enter the complete barcode on Track & Trace or in the My bpost app.
Before your international registered mail leaves Belgium, you can follow it via Track & Trace or the My bpost app. After it leaves Belgium, you can follow your shipment via the tracking tool of the foreign post operator. If you want written proof that the addressee received your shipment, add the confirmation of receipt option.
There can be different reasons why your parcel was not delivered to a Parcel Locker: The Parcel Locker was full or out of order due to a technical breakdown. Your parcel was too heavy or too large for delivery to a Parcel Locker. Some parcels cannot be delivered to a Parcel Locker; these include Registered Mail (signature required) and parcels that require payment upon delivery. If we cannot deliver your parcel to a Parcel Locker, we will deliver it to a different Pick-Up Point close by. You will be informed with Track & Trace and the My bpost app.
You can follow your parcel online with Track & Trace or the My bpost app. If you have a bpost account, you can also follow your parcel in the bpost shipping tool. You'll need the barcode number or the reference of your parcel. Those details are on your shipping label or you received them via text message or e-mail; they are also on the shipping receipt or Post Office receipt.
You can set up this service free of charge in the My bpost app under ‘delivery preferences’. All you need to do is identify yourself. You can do that using itsme or by scanning your ID card in the app. You can also go along to a post office to request delivery of registered mail straight to your letterbox. You will have to show your ID card for this.
You cannot transfer funds from your bpaid card to your bank account. If you wish to cancel your bpaid card and claim the unused funds on the card, visit a Post Office. You will have to present your ID card and your bpaid card. The unused funds on the card will be transferred to your account along with a proportional part of the annual administration costs.
Who can pick up your shipment depends on the type of shipment. , My shipment is a parcel , Anyone can pick up your parcel from a Pick-up Point or Parcel Locker as long as that person has the barcode of your parcel. You can find the barcode in the confirmation email, the My bpost app or on the notice of absence you received in your letterbox. , My shipment is registered mail , You can recognise registered mail by the barcode starting with the numbers ‘010’ or the letter ‘R’.  Only the specified recipient can pick up registered mail upon presentation of their ID card and the barcode. You can also give a postal mandate to someone else by signing the notice of absence and giving it to the person who will pick up your shipment. Follow your parcel with Track & Trace or the My bpost app. You'll need the barcode number or the reference of your parcel. Those details are on your shipping label or you received them via text message or email; they are also on the shipping receipt or Post Office receipt. If you want to be notified by text message or email, choose the option ‘With confirmation of delivery’ when creating your shipping label. This option is only available for shipments within Belgium.
The maximum insured value for domestic registered mail with customised insurance is €7500. You can calculate the price of this extra option with our price calculator. For international registered mail, the maximum amount of the customised insurance and the way that the shipment is delivered to the addressee differ from country to country. Some countries, such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, do not accept this kind of mail. Ask about it in your Post Office or contact our customer service.
